Colorado CASA Statement on National CASA/GAL Funding

Colorado CASA is aware of the Department of Justice's termination of federal awards to National CASA/GAL Association. As independent 501(c)(3)s, Colorado CASA and the 18 local organizations in Colorado have their own funding streams. We do not expect changes with National CASA/GAL to impact the delivery of services to children and families by the local CASA organizations in Colorado.

Three organizations in Colorado had been awarded grants from National CASA/GAL that were funded by this federal money. All three are aware that the second half of those funds will not be distributed. The organization impacted the most by this funding loss is our newest organization in Alamosa, CASA del Valle. Colorado CASA is working with this organization to help them navigate the funding loss that impacts their opening.

Colorado CASA and the 18 local organizations in our state are supported by individual donors, private foundations, corporations and the State of Colorado. Supportive individuals and communities in Colorado are what keep our state's CASA organizations strong.

Local CASA organizations recruit volunteers to serve as Court Appointed Special Advocates for children who are involved in the court system due to instances of abuse and neglect. You can make a difference in the lives of children who need you by volunteering and donating here.
