Colorado Communities United for Child Abuse Prevention Month
April was a month dedicating to raising awareness and taking action for Child Abuse Prevention. From volunteer support to community engagement and fundraising, our local CASA organizations hosted impactful events that underscored our collective commitment to giving every child in Colorado the opportunity to thrive.
Pinwheels in the Chambers
To mark the beginning of Child Abuse Prevention Month, staff members from numerous CASA organizations joined Illuminate Colorado for the annual Pinwheels in the Chambers event. Their presence helped fill the galleries of the state legislative chambers as tributes recognizing Child Abuse Prevention Month were read, visually demonstrating the collective dedication to this critical issue.
A Night of Hope and Record Support
Life Stories Child & Family Advocacy kicked off Child Abuse Prevention Month early with their annual gala, “Wrangling Hope: A Gala for the Voiceless”, on March 27th. The event saw a record turnout of 500 guests, demonstrating an overwhelming outpouring of community support. The evening was a resounding success, raising vital funds and setting a powerful tone for the month ahead.
A Grand Celebration for Denver CASA’s Anniversary
Denver CASA hosted its annual Light of Hope Celebration on April 23rd at the Sturm Grand Pavilion at the Denver Art Museam. This year’s event was particularly special, as it honored Denver CASA’s 30th anniversary! The event was a tremendous success, raising over $170,000 to support child advocates in the Denver area.
Rallying for Kids and Inspiring with Resilience
Advocates for Children CASA hosted their annual Rally for Kids luncheon on April 25th, bringing together over 300 dedicated CASA volunteers, judicial officers, community partners, donors, and passionate supporters. The event served as a powerful call to action, raising crucial awareness about child abuse prevention and the vital mission of their organization.
Celebrating 40 Years of Services in Boulder County
The generosity and unwavering commitment of the community shone brightly at an event supporting Voices for Children, CASA of Boulder County, raising more than $225,000. Attendees were deeply moved by “Tara’s Story”, a courageous video sharing a journey of generational trauma and the life-changing impact of a CASA volunteer.
Celebrating 25 Years of Brighter Futures
CASA of Adams & Broomfield Counties hosted their Light of Hope Luncheon on April 25th at the Omni Interlocken Hotel, celebrating 25 years of Brighter Futures. The event raised $154,000 to support their mission, with Lori Poland as emcee and Dawn Davis, CASA Board Member and former foster youth, as the guest speaker. The children’s choir from Adams 12’s Stukey Elementary School brought extra joy to the event.
